Directed by John Carpenter

Starring James Woods and Sheryl Lee

Incredible disappointment from the great John Carpenter, this film came out the same year as the similar, but infinitely superior, vampire action effort "Blade."

Like that film, it's about vampire hunters. Woods is a cowboy-like, gun-for-hire working for the Catholic Church. He hunts vampires with a team of filthy, drunken, whore-chasing killers.

He finally meets his match in the form of goth-rocker vampires wearing long trench coats and hip hair-styles. After most of his army is massacred, he teams up with a prostitute (Lee) who's slowly turning into a vampire herself.

Some hardcore Carpenter fans got a kick out of this film, which is better than his awful "Village of the Damned." But when compared with his earlier work, it just doesn't stack up.
