TERROR AT THE OPERA (1987)

Directed by Dario Argento

Starring Christina Marsillach and Ian Charleson

Pretty decent horror film by giallo master Argento has all the setpieces you expect from his movies—well-choreographed murders, a loud rock score, stylish photography, taut editing and excellent atmosphere.

But the story of a killer on the loose in an opera, tormenting a young singer who has been dreaming about him since childhood, is pretty weak—and the "twist" ending of this film is utterly laughable.

Although not even close to being as good as the director's best films, it's a worthwhile watch for hardcore Argento fans. Most general viewers will think it sucks.
