BLOODSTONE: SUBSPECIES II (1993)

Directed by Ted Nicolaou

Starring Anders Hove and Denice Duff

One of the rare instances where a pretty lame movie ("Subspecies") spawns a really outstanding sequel.

Hove returns as Ranu, the evil Romanian vampire, with Denice Duff taking over the role of Michelle, the surviving American girl from the first film.

Atmospherically directed, suspenseful and realistic in its depiction of what Michelle is going through as she is stalked by Ranu and slowly metamorphizes into a vampire, this movie rocks. In fact, it's one of the best vampire movies of the 1990s, better than "The Addiction," "John Carpenter's Vampires" and many others. The sad thing is that most vampire fans probably won't even see it because of its association with "Subspecies I."

Like the first one in the series it was also filmed on location in Romania. The third in the series was filmed at exactly the same time as this one and carries on right where this leaves off.
