THE RAGE: CARRIE 2 (1999)

A waste of time for everything but the last 10 minutes, this brainless re-tread of the first film doesn't even feel like a horror film for its first hour and 20 minutes.
The half-sister (Bergl) of Carrie from Part 1 achieves sexual maturity in a nearby high school.
School counselor Irving (lone survivor from the psychic high school massacre in the first film) suspects that Bergl has powers similar to Carrie and fears another telekinetic tantrum could wipe out the entire population of yet another local high school.
Of course, Bergl plays a campus nerd who becomes enraged when one of her friends commits suicide after learning that her boyfriend was a sexist participating in a weird competition with some of his football player friends to see who could bang the most high school girls.
Unlike Sissy Spacek from Part 1, the character of half-sister Rachel in this film doesn't seem
like someone who would completely lose her cool and destroy her school. While the first film gave us a believable portrait of a girl attempting to gain a sense of self in a cruel world, "Carrie 2" just seems like an episode of "Beverly Hills 90210" that ends in a massacre.
Worth catching on cable if only for the gory finish. But aside from that, skip it.
