PHANTASM 2 (1988) Starring Angus Scrimm and Reggie Bannister Disappointing follow-up to the fantastic "Phantasm" picks up right where the last one left off. At first, you think it's going to be a kick-ass movie, with both Bannister and Scrimm reprising their roles from the first film. We even get a better look at the cloaked, mini-monsters from the first film. But it quickly goes downhill, introducing a new female character with a psychic link to the teenage boy from Part 1 (now, sadly, being played by a new actor, James Le Gros, replacing Michael Baldwin), lame scenes featuring Le Gros and Bannister arming themselves for battle, and other vain attempts at making the film an action movie like "Aliens." Luckily, Coscarelli realized how much this film sucked. For the third film, he brought back Baldwin and killed off the psychic girl in the opening scene. |
