A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 4: THE DREAM MASTER (1988)
Starring Robert Englund and Tuesday Knight Carries on where part 3 left off, quickly killing off the protagonist from that film (played now by a new actress) and moving on to a new set of teen victims. Like the third film, the kids are able to draw one another into each other's dreams and collectively fight Freddy. Not quite as good as part 3, but still much better than the second in the series, this film launched director Harlin's career in the United States. He went on to direct big-budget action films like "Cliffhanger" with Sylvester Stallone. Will Smith, years before becoming a TV and then a blockbuster movie star, performed a Freddie Krueger rap song that became a hit single the same year. The series went swiftly downhill after this one. It would be six yearsand two movies laterbefore original director Wes Craven would resurrect the franchise again with "Wes Craven's New Nightmare." |
