A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE (1985)
Starring Robert Englund and Mark Patton The first "Nightmare on Elm Street" movie fared poorly at the box office, but was a huge hit on video, so producers cranked out this weak sequel. In a lame-ass attempt to change the format set by the first film, the story resolves around Freddy Krueger's drive to possess a teenage boy. Krueger, of course, is the dead child murderer who continues to terrorize teenagers by invading their dreams and killing them there. Englund returned to play Krueger The original film's director, Wes Craven, didn't want to have anything to do with this film, and his lack of influence shows. This movie sucks. But he was coaxed back to help write the third film, a way superior sequel and a box office hit that made Freddy Krueger the horror icon of the 1980s. |
