NIGHTBREED (1990)
Starring Craig Sheffer and Anne Bobby Among the worst Clive Barker films, "Nightbreed" is based on his novel "Cabal." Sheffer plays a hunk in a leather jacket who's framed for a series of murders. Horror film legend David Cronenberg is fantastic as the mad psychiatrist who's behind the killers. After having dreams of a strange, Clive Barker-esque world known as Midian, Sheffer finds the place under a cemetery and becomes a kind of messiah to the monsters living down there. Yeah, it makes little or no sense, but it does feature some impressive make-up effects and it's fun to see Cronenberg playing a villain. Not as bad as "Candyman: Farewell to the Flesh," it's worth catching on the boob tube perhaps, but don't pay to see it. |
