THE MUTILATOR (1983)

Directed by Buddy Cooper

Starring Frances Raines and Matt Mitler

Really, really, really bad slasher film is memorable for some incredibly graphic killings. During a vacation, some college students find themselves getting knocked off one by one. The slasher is the father of one of a student who accidentally killed his Mom when he was 10.

Two versions of the film exist—one "R," the other "unrated"—and you don't have to be a genius to figure out which one to get. The killings in this film really are over-the-top: Murder weapons include a meat hook, pitchfork and naturally an axe.

It's a truly lame movie that has managed to maintain a certain popularity because of its unrated killing scenes. I first saw it at a frat party. The film is also remembered by some of us for a terrible "Fall Break" pop song in it.

Completist slasher film lovers will probably want to check it out. Others might want to steer very clear.
