HELLRAISER: HELLWORLD (2005)

Directed by Rick Bota

Starring Lance Henriksen and Doug Bradley

A piss-poor entry in the "Hellraiser" direct-to-video franchise has Doug Bradley's Pinhead character reduced to killing people with cleavers. A real downturn even from "Hellraiser: Deader" released a few months earlier on DVD.

A group of young folk (one of whom is played by Henry Cavill, who was up for the role of James Bond the same year) are into an online videgame known as "Hellraiser." It features the Lamont Coniguration and other aspects of the Hellraiser mythos. They're invited to a party being thrown at a mansion by Lance Henriksen, who is only identified as "the host." It's a wild party with public sex, a la Stanley Kubrick's "Eyes Wide Shut."

As they each go off into their separate party wards, they run into visions of Pinhead, who wipes them out using methods that are most uncreative for a "Hellraiser" movie. As in the Bradley films, the victims become their own Cenobites. But these Cenobites suck -- basically just wearing a little bit of zombie makeup.

This has to be the worst "Hellraiser" film of them all, with bad reject pop music on the soundtrack, little of Doug Bradley and even less of Clive Barker's original concept of what Pinhead and "hell" are supposed to be. There's even a totally ludicrous twist ending with lots of exposition.

In short, they need to rehire Barker doing these or give it up.
