HANDS OF THE RIPPER (1971) Directed by Peter Sasdy Starring Eric Porter and Angharad Rees Excellent Hammer Film, with Porter as a psychologist attempting to save the teenage daughter (Rees) of Jack the Ripper. She witnessed her father's work as a child and, as always happens to adult children of psychotics, is following in her Daddy's footsteps. Like many a Hammer movie, this one boasts great atmosphere. It was originally released in a cut print in the U.S., but the version that came out on video is the infinitely gorier, uncut version. A maid has her throat slit in one gruesome scene, while an olde English prostitute gets a hatpin in her eye. The flick may be a little too British and talky for modern tastes, but Hammer fans should enjoy.
