FADE TO BLACK (1980)
Starring Dennis Christopher and Linda Kerridge After starring in the sleeper hit "Breaking Away," Christopher accepted this role as a psycho-killer obsessed with old movies. For every one of his killings, he re-enacts a character from a horror film, among them Universal's "The Mummy" and "Dracula." It's a theme that's been done time and again in horror pics, the best being "Theater of Blood," with Vincent Price as a depressed Shakespearean actor using the Bard's plays as themes for his murders. Unfortunately, "Fade" doesn't deliver much in terms of fear or even gore. Even Christopher's performance isn't very good. The film has more or less faded from memory for most people, although it did hit DVD. |
