DEMON RAGE (1981) Directed by James Polakof Starring Lana Wood and John Carradine This also goes by the titlte "Satan's Mistress," but a better name might have been "Lana Wood's Breasts." They pop out of her nightgown early in the film, during a dream sequence where she's being chased by a maniac on a beach, and at times when she wakes up topless from other dreams. Wood, you might remember, is the incredibly buxom babe from "Diamonds Are Forever" (she played the character Plenty O'Toole, Bond's almost-one night stand in Vegas, who is thrown out of a window by gangsters) and the sister of Natalie Wood. She had two of the best breasts in the world back in the 1970s. In this film, shot during the tail end of her career, she plays a housewife who becomes lonely after being spurned by her husband. Why any man in his right mind would spurn Lana Wood is beyond my comprehension. She begins to have a fantasmagoric relationship with a spirit entity. The flick claims to be based on a true story. To make a long story short, the storyline isn't much more than an excuse for our heroine to disrobe -- and disrobe she does, again and again. Yes indeed -- Plenty O'Toole does have enormous breasts, as James Bond noticed in "Diamonds Are Forever." Unfortunately, this film doesn't have much of a plot, and without those breasts there would be precious little interest in the early 1980s clunker. Fellow Bond girl Britt Ekland has a small role, and John Carradine shows up to play a priest. Released at a time when slasher movies were sweeping our culture, "Demon Rage" came and went, eventually popping up on video. It's a rarity, and not worth searching for -- unless you, like any heterosexual James Bond fan, want to see plenty more of Plenty O' Toole. |
