CHILDREN OF THE CORN: REVELATION (2001)
Starring Claudette Mink and Kyle Cassie One of the lamest horror movie franchises in film history just got worse. The best that can be said about this entry is that it at least has real kids in it. The past couple of episodes didn't even have child actors, apparently in an attempt to save some money. Mink plays a young woman in search of her missing grandmother, who just happened to live in the town where the Children of the Corn killed all the adults some years back. As she wanders around looking for clues she runs into bizarre children who wear suspenders. One of the kids likes to walk up to her and yell "Kill!" before going off to play a violent video game. I guess there's some kind of significant social message there. For some reason these children once again start murdering adults and all of the characters Mink runs into are killed off. Michael Ironside has a pointless and incredibly minor role (almost a cameo) as a priest who wanders around and looks scary. Our protagonist finally discovers that there's an underground corn harvest below her apartment complex, leading to a pretty exciting
climatic five minutes of the movie. The special effects finale features CGI-created corn growing out of the floorboards of her grandma's building. It was about time they did that in "Children of the Corn" movie.
This has been an infernally weak horror franchise. The very best in the series, Part 2, is now but a distant memory. Part 5 was also somewhat watchable. This film is so tame it would have received a PG-13 if not for a brief nude scene. At least it does have kids in it, but it's not enough to make this dog a recommendation.
