BRAIN DEAD (1990)

Way too talky horror film with good actors, no story and lame special effects. Most of the scares early in the film basically involve people accidentally dropping jars of brains.
Pullman plays a brain surgeon who, after conducting a "kinder, gentler" lobotomy on a paranoid schizophrenic, starts going crazy himself. He sees a blood-drenched doctor where-ever he goes, then wakes up to find himself in a mental institution, where he's informed he was never a doctor, never had a wife, etc. Paxton plays a corporate sleaze bag he works with who may or may not be banging his wife, assuming he even has one.
The film basically comes across as an overlong, bad "Twilight Zone" episode—probably because it was based on a screenplay by TZ scribe Charles Beaumont. Despite his name on the credits, the film fails to sustain one's interest. It barely even features the "monster" that appears on the cover of the videocassette. The stretched face creature is just an experiment that turns up early in the film for a few minutes.
