BLOODY PIT OF HORROR (1965)
Starring Mickey Hargitay and Walter Brandi
Hilarious schlocker, very similar to Mario Bava's "Baron Blood," and starring Jayne Mansfield's lover (Hargitay), a former Mr. Universe. He plays an actor possessed by the spirit of a dreaded "Crimson Executioner" who tortures a group of photographers and models visiting the original executioner's castle for a photo shoot.
Even better than the movie is the trailer, which plays up the film's supposed connection to the writings of the Marquis de Sade. Despite the promises of the ad, there isn't much bloodshed in this cheesy '60s pic, but there is a lot of camp value.
Worth catching if you're a bad movie fan. Filmed in "Psycho Vision." Director Pupillo, who sometimes went under the name "Max Hunter," also directed the Barbara Steele film "Five Graves for a Medium."
