BLOODY MURDER (2000)

Directed by Ralph Portillo

Starring Jessica Morris and Michael Stone

Unacceptably awful attempt at ripping off the "Friday the 13th" films, this direct-to-video slasher film does feature a killer wearing a hockey mask, but his weapon of choice is a chainsaw and there isn’t an ounce of blood shown when the killings start. Well, maybe an ounce, but not much more in the special effects department.

Unlike the Friday films, this tries to have a whodunit mystery. It never takes flight and fans of horror will find themselves scanning through the entire movie looking for something – anything – to qualify it as a worthwhile rental. But there’s nothing there. In fact, the film probably deserves a PG-13 rating because there is no sex, no violence, and frankly nothing an adult would find even mildly interesting about this movie.

A major, major pass. Tragically, while some other horror films fight for wide release, this film saw wide distribution in Blockbuster stores around the country. Beware.
