AUTOPSY (1974)

Directed by Armando Crispino

Starring Mimsy Farmer and Barry Primus

For those of you unfortunate enough to have seen "Faces of Death Part II," you might remember an autopsy scene that was supposedly a film of the real thing.

Well that scene was actually lifted from this movie--at least so legend has it.

This attempt at making a Dario Argento-style giallo film is about a med student who learns that a string of suicides in Rome are actually murders. Authorities had blamed the deaths on sunspots.

A groovy dream sequence where corpses come to life to have sex on an embalming table makes the film mildly worthwhile, but watch out: The scene has been excised from some prints, although not the version put out by Anchor Bay in the late '90s, which was fully uncut.
