Directed by Mark Jones
Starring Bruce Weitz Paydin LoPachin
Rocky Marquette
Wow. A really, really, really bad movie. I didn't think they still made them this bad, but they do.
Who's they? "They" would be Mark Jones, the director of "Leprechaun." Yes, "Leprechaun" was a pretty bad movie but it didn't quite reach the level of lameless of this atrocity. No, you have to reach far back in the memory backs to remember something this bad. It's hard to remember ...
Maybe "Alien vs. Predator: Requiem." That didn't come out too long ago. But it's one of those films you try to forget. And along comes "Triloquist" to force you to remember, force you to try to remember movies that are actually worse. Actually, "Requiem" is still a little better than "Triloquist." You have to reach back further. Maybe "Night of the Living Dead: The 30th Anniversary Edition." You really need to reach for the atrocities to get something as bad as this.
"Triloquist" is a disastrous attempt to blend the feral intensity of "Natural Born Killers" with "Magic." Never that "Natural Born Killers" was already kind of a crapfest. But at least it had great actors -- really, really good actors. It was a well-made crapfest.
Paydin LoPachin and Rocky Marquette play brother and sister who are on a cross country voyage of murder and mayhem, dragging an apparently magical ventriloquist dummy with them along the way. When they get into a bind, like being pulled over by a cop after kidnapping some damsel in distress and leaving her in their back seat, the dummy bails them out -- biting the cop so they can gun him down.
The two are on a mission to get the mute, ventriloquist brother laid -- so they can create a magical child. For the storyline, the dummy is just kind of an add-on. He doesn't play much of a relevant role in the plot and isn't eerie.
"Triloquist" has really, really, really bad acting. Especially lead actress Paydin LoPachin. Again, it's a "wow" performance.
Possibly the worst actress to appear in a horror movie since ... gosh. Another tough one. Who is she worse than from a horror movie? That's a really, really tough one. Maybe because there has never been one? Perhaps LoPachin is the one? Watching her brandishing a shotgun and delivering lines like "Don't move your fucking hands" with the charisma of a turtle. She's beautiful -- but thoroughly miscast as a villainness.
What's even worse about "Triloquist" is how it tries to have style. It's annoying, lame pop music soundtrack, black-and-white photography, MTV-style editing. Mix it in with LoPachin's incredibly lame performance, you've got a catastrophe on your hands.
Stay far, far away.

Posted by Joshua Underwood on October 7, 2008 Best movie ever
you're just too stupid to realize that the acting was not bad, it was supposed to be that way, it was supposed to have a funny twist.
(sort've like juno's personality)
it was a great movie with all of the killings and gore along with the great ACTING and it's worth watching.
it's either you really hate it or you really like it.
Posted by Leandro on December 21, 2008 I disapprove this review, Triloquist is a simple movie but isn't a bad movie, for you understand, I already watch it for five times, doesn't matter if it has a "MTV style" or any other style, you want put defect where don't exist. Really it is not a horror movie but a comedy very funny! Rare film when american cops lose in the end, I also have buyed some soundtrack of movie, and how about LoPachin be a "miscast as a villain" I think she doesn't need have villain cliche to be persuasive. Maybe you don't watch paying attention because the black-and-white photography means "I did it without conscience or it is apart and additional history". If you like comedy debauching of police you probably will appreciate it.

Posted by Garebear on June 1, 2010 Umm no and yes. Rocky's acting as Norbert was wonderful, I loved his odd movements and bizzare facial expressions. The actress was bad, yes. However, the writing pulled her performance off; I absolutely love love her character. "Group Hug!" The writing takes on a very ecentric character that I haven't really seen anything similar to. The music goes very well with the flow of the movie. Overall a very great flick. The lead actress needs work and there are some flaws in plot, the trick or treater murder and the strip club.
Posted by isabella on July 5, 2010 this is one of the worst movies I have ever watched.. and the actress's performance was terrible. she looked bored.. i totally agree with the author
Posted by RichardT on September 14, 2010 I totally disagree with your assesment of this movie. Triloquist has been the most fun and refreshing horror /comedy I have seen in many years! I had no interest in watching this movie, however my teenage son was watching it on Superchannel , and now I am on the web trying to buy it! If anyone one knows where to find this killer soundtrack< I'd appreciate the postig as to where it can be purchased!
