Directed by Steven C. Miller
Starring Garrett Jones
Juliet Reeves
Rowan Bousaid William Hoard Bowman
A geek shows up drooling blood at a high school party. A girl asks if he's OK, before he reaches for her stomach and rips out a bloody fetus and takes a bite. "Oh my God! My baby!" the girl screams.
Yeah, pretty gruesome stuff. It's the kind of stuff that made "Automaton Transfusion" a hit on the festival circuit in 2006. Now, finally being released in 2008, the film was beaten to the rabid-zombies-on-the-loose punch by some other rabid zombie films. But "Automaton Transfusion" does have a great, ultra-low budget look and plenty of impressive gore effects, not to mention some surprising sleaze, like one topless girl in a car.
The film opens with a morgue attendant throwing up at the sign of a newly arrived dead body. Things get worse when the body breaks his back to drag him into a body chamber. Roll credits.
Cut to a high school where everything is pretty normal -- there's a bully with brass knuckles, cheer leaders laughing at the school geek, and kids making out in cars -- when something strange happens. A teacher is attacked by a demented student and dragged out of class in a stretcher while blood gushes from his neck. A shocking occurrence, yes, but not shocking enough to stop the raging party the kids already have planned for that evening.
Another group of kids notice something strange on their way to a club: There's no traffic during rush hour and the city seems deserted. Naturally, things get out of hand at the party when rabid zombies show up, living dead infectees of some kind of epidemic.
One of the nice things about "Automaton Transfusion" is how it never lets up once it starts going -- and how it is not mocking itself, like so many other horror films do these days. It is not trying to be campty -- but it inevitably heads there. Highlights of the film include a runing assault on zombies with a chainsaw, an eye gouging, tongue getting ripped out and the to-be-expected shotgun to the head routine.
I shouldn't be too much of a horror snob about this movie, because it is the kind of stuff they were making in Italy in the early 1980s -- only better -- and despite its lack of originality, it certainly delivers plenty of shocks. But it wasn't the horror masterpiece I was expecting, especially given all the buzz it was getting from the festivals.
Absolutely, positively, worth seeing.

Posted by Raymond J. on March 6, 2008 The movie was worth watching. The biggest problem I had was the quality of how it was shot- the entire movie was "jerky," as if filmed with a computer cam. None of it flowed smoothly at all, making it a hard one to focus on. Ironically, the "making of" featurette at the end of the movie was very smooth, making me wonder why the movie itself couldn't have been filmed that way. None of the production team mentioned this during their interviews. Anyone know why this was?
Posted by jack on March 7, 2008 I saw this at a film festival and the director says they did this on purpose to give the feeling of motion sickness. He stated that if he were in the middle of a zombie take over, he didn't think anything would feel normal or smooth. I thought it was a great effect.. although it was tough at times.
Posted by chrissy on March 7, 2008 classic horror at its best. reminded me of the demon movies. must see.
Posted by Kuntz on April 12, 2008 Disappointing. Also never judge a book by it's cover- this is the usual; micro budget no filmmaking skills zombie horror. Also Part 1 as doesn't even have an ending- what a con- or lazy writing. Cheese dime store effects -

Posted by Truth Police on April 17, 2008 Hey everyone: Grab a camcorder and a bunch of friends and run out and make a zombie movie! People will like it and pay to see it, seriously! Really, I've seen better footage from a cell phone camera, yeah I know it was filmed that way on purpose (pure genius-what an innovative "filmmaker"). "Look at us world...we made a movie!" I'm going to go poop on a canvas and make a painting. When's the next painting festival? Another wannabe copycat zombie skit.
Posted by Bryan on May 15, 2008 I thought for the most part it was pretty damn good for a low budget movie.
Posted by Ecrappers on May 20, 2008 Absolutely, positively, worth seeing...BULLSHIT!! How dare Esplatter even review a piece of crap like this, let alone say it is "Absolutely, positively, worth seeing". Oh now I see, Dimension Extreme (who bought this turd) advertises on Esplatter.
Posted by cheese_Gromit on May 24, 2008 Escrappers hit the money, please, please I am begging you dont see this lame movie...unless you want to be angry for wasting your money...not worth it at all...it would be better if you spent your money buying dog crap... please believe...this movie sucks major balls!!! PERIOD!!!
Posted by Dan on June 11, 2008 Yeah so this movie was lame as all get out. I bought it, watched it, and then burned it....I took lighter fluid and burned it. It is trash, and that is being nice about it.
Posted by dahmer on June 20, 2008 This was utter Hot Garbage!!! Jerky effects. Terrible blood splatter effects. Cheesy shotguns to heads(just sprays)
The only decent effect was the lower jaw being ripped off.
Did I just waste 15 bucks on buying this crap??? Unfortunately, yes!!!
Posted by Truth Police on June 26, 2008 This movie is not worth watching. E-splatter has removed the negative (and mind boggleing positive) comments on this movie, plus the negative comments about E-splatter for reviewing this piece of crap from a company that advertises on their site. E-splatter has zero credibiltiy now. ZERO. Luc ius Gore is a phony. A BIG PHONY!
Posted by truth police on July 13, 2008 Don't trust Esplatter, conflicts of interest. This "movie" is terrible, like a high school film project .
Posted by sucks on July 13, 2008 movie sucks
Posted by on July 21, 2008 The only thing scary about this movie is knowing that there is more to come! .......Coastie
Posted by on January 18, 2009 Waste of my life, could even get through the movie. Not worth the $9. Everyone involved in the making of this pathetic attempt at a horror film should be shot.
Posted by BRITTANY on July 9, 2009 i thought this movie was amazing and totally worth seeing and if i had to i would pay $$100.00 to see it and none of you little shit talkers could make a better movie so shut up seriously...[[[ BEST MOVIE EVER SEEN ]]]
Posted by Ripped off for a buck on July 29, 2009 Seriously, I bought this shitfest at a yard sale for one dollar and still feel ripped off. Brittany is full of shit (or just stupid). This is an insult to all film, never mind low budget indie horror. To think I trusted the review on this site! Indie does not mean you have to be stupid. The stupidity goes beyond all know descriptions. When the driver of a car has to wake up a sleeping passenger to ask how long they have been driving and he yawns "about 45 minutes," you know you are just as stupid for watching it. Acting? Stupid. Effects? Stupid. Story? Stupid. Yes, the director was right, I WANT to feel motion sick watching a movie. WTF? Stupid, stupid, stupid. Botcott this wannabee trash and give me my friggin dollar back. Shame on esplatter!
Posted by Christine on September 26, 2009 This movie "shockingly redefines the zombie genre?" Please! It's more like a shit stain on the horror movie genre. This movie was truly a waste of 75 minutes of my life. I'd rather be stuck in a room watching "Diary of The Dead" on repeat. Kanye West could have come up with a better zombie concept and he drinks his own ass milk (and so does Brittany ^^).
Posted by Dan again on October 8, 2009 as good as a emo kid zombie movie sounds its not good.... burn it....light it on fire....and then your dvd player
Posted by DurAniSDead on November 17, 2009 I thought it was amazing besides the shitty resolution which kinda gave me a headache it was THE SHIT!!! I just wish someone could tell me when the next one comes out.
Posted by the dude on January 24, 2010 TRAINWRECK! people who who liked it, did we just watch the same movie? you are stupid. what the fuck does automoton transfusion even mean? whatever it means doesnt prevent it from blowing tranny cock. once when i was a kid i shit in my hands and did a fingerpainting with it. that fingerpainting was 10 times better, 10 times more believable, 10 times scarier and 50 times more artistic. this "movie" is pathetic and should be avoided like aids
Posted by CORPSE EATER on December 8, 2011 the guy that snatch the baby from the pregnant girls stomach was the stupidest thing i ever seen in horror, this movie had shitty acting from Canada!
Posted by zedword on April 20, 2013 this is a pile of shit. i paid money for this shitfest. i hated this film. it's like a bunch of kids watched the dawn remake and were like "hey zombies are cool , huh huh drrrrr" . avoid this film. and film is a loose term here.
