Really cool early 1980s horror film, replete with some of the most gruesome transformation effects I have ever seen, courtesy of make-up effects maestro Tom Borman.
A woman is raped by a monster and gives birth to a son who finds himself entering adulthood with mysterious homicidal impulses. Naturally the adult son (Paul Clemens) slowly transforming into something close to the rampaging, murderous beast his father was.
Well-scripted—with a plot involving the son's parents searching for some clue as to what created him and local townsfolk unwilling to reveal the truth—and full of gore, this is a must-see gore movie. They don't make 'em anymore like this, kids. Tom Holland, who wrote the screenplay, went on to become a major horror filmmaker, directing the excellent "Child's Play" and "Fright Night."
Highly, highly, highly recommended, this classic film wowed every teenage horror fan alive when it came out in the early '80s, and maintains a following today among those of who shun CGI.
Awesome movie....I was scared shitless when my dad took me to see this thanks to all the warnings....but we had an awesome time and the movie is still great to this day....it will never ever be like it was back in the day. The horror movies back then absolutely fucking shit on the crap that comes out today and just the whole overall vibe of that time can never be repeated. Great review! ANd thanks for the awesome original trailer! Outstanding website!

I think the new producers should do a lot of Special Makeup Air-Bladder Effects like this movie. I love to see billions of Monster Transformations for the upcoming low-budget horror films.

BEAST WITHIN is the second best of the transformation fx as the werewolf movie 'The Howling.' Definitely would love to see millions to billions of big swelling throats mutations!!!!!!! I also hope they'll make thousands of sequels to this film, and I'm CRAZY about the Makeup Air-Bladders fx.

I LOVE the mutations horror films and transformations horror films from the 80's and early 90's. Looking forward for plenty of sequels of this film and add more makeup air-bladders fx. I can't wait to see six other guys turn into monstrous beasts.
