Directed by Ken Hughes
Starring Drew Snyder Leonard Mann
Rachel Ward
Also known as "Terror Eyes" (ugh), this is a forgettable mid-1980s slasher, featuring a killer in a motorcycle helmet, "Night School" lacked the teen focus of the "Friday the 13th" films and, hence, wasn't a hit. It takes place in a big city and mainly plays just like a cop drama.
But it did make some waves because of a shower scene it features with Rachel Ward, playing the hot assistant to a professor/murder suspect. Playboy Magazine even highlighted the scene in a special layout in its magazine. Ward would go on, of course, to being one of the top Hollywood babes of the '80s, starring in films like "Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid", "The Thorn Birds," etc. But this film is where she got her start.
The motorcycle helmet-wearing killer beheads women who attend a night school class taught by an asshole professor, who may have been sleeping with some of the students before they were slaughtered. In the end, the film runs like an episode of "Columbo," although it's marketed as a horror picture. Remarkably, the movie was still in print on video at the time of this writing. Whatever you do, don't buy it.
The Ward shower scene was actually more explicit in Playboy than it was in the movie it came from. This was director Hughes' last film. He also did a segment of "Casino Royale," the James Bond spoof.
