News on Don Coscarelli, "Hellraiser", "Fear Itself"
Don "Phantasm" Coscarelli is directing "John Dies at the End," based on the novel by David Wong. The novel is about a street drug called "Soy Sauce" in which the users come back from a trip -- not human! ... Marcus Dustan and Patrick Melton, who penned "Feast" (remember that Project Greenlight movie?) are now penning the "Hellraiser" remake for Dimension. ... Mick Garris has leaved the TV series "Fear Itself" -- follow up to the excellent "Masters of Horror" series that ran its course on Showtime -- because the producers hired non-union writers to tweak scripts during the WGA writer's strike. “I left as the strike began, and I’m not going back. What’s happening now is beyond my ken,” he told Fangoria radio. Stuart Gordon is directing the first episode, "Eater," written by Jonathan Schaech and Richard Chizmar, who penned "The Washingtonians" for Masters of Horror.
