Some Thoughts on the Worst Movie of the Year

December 26, 2007 Yes, indeed. "Alien vs. Predator: Requiem" is easily the worst movie of 2007. Not only is it a phenomenally bad film, but it's a sequel to one of the greatest horror films of all time.

The idea that we went from "Alien" in 1979 to this nearly 30 years later is just -- sacrilege. I'm still reeling from the experience of watching this unbelievable pile of dung.

So what next for the "Alien" and "Predator" franchises? Time to hang it up for both of them. They'll never make another "Alien" sequel now because, if they did, no one would go.

Hopefully, they won't make an "Alien" remake either. It will be tempting because so many horror films from that era are being remade and garnering megabucks at the box office. But remaking "Alien" would be like remaking "Star Wars." You just can't go there.

In any case, we saw the "Alien" franchise put to rest this holiday season. "AVPR" is such a crappy movie -- I mean, would have believed in 1979 that a sequel to "Alien" would have featured a pizza delivery boy? -- it probably should be shown in film classes as an example of what can go wrong with a movie.
