Now that the biggest shopping day of the year is upon us, it might be an ideal time to reflect on the recent DVDs that have hit stores.
Now if I were to recommend any DVD as a big present -- either for yourself or to someone else -- it would have to be the Masters of Horror Season One box set.

If you haven't caught this series yet, take note that just about every episode is better than the horror movie content that has been hitting theaters recently. These episodes would in and of themselves have been classic horror releases if they had been longer than their 60-minute running times.
Another recent box set worth examining is the Amicus Collection which features "And Now the Screaming Starts," "Asylum" and "The Beast Must Die."

Two of those films -- "Asylum" and "Screaming" -- are classic Peter Cushing starrers. "The Beast Must Die" is an amusing cheese fest.
Click here for our roundup of the fall and winter DVD releases, including last Tuesday's releases, which included a "Nosferatu" ultimate edition.
