First came word early this week that Stephen King's "The Stand" was getting the motion picture treatment courtesy of Warner Bros. Today, the L.A. Times reports "Pet Sematary" is set for a redo from Paramount.

It's hard to imagine, but "Pet Semetary" came out a long 22 years ago, which is enough time to justify a remake. But Mary Lambert's film is so excellent, it's hard to imagine anyone topping.
"The Stand," on the other hand, was done as a watered down TV miniseries in the 1990s. It was a great miniseries, but not nearly as horrifying as the book, simply becuase it was made for television.
"The Stand" may be released as multiple motion pictures, not unlike the "Lord of the Rings" series.
No director is attached to either project, but "1408" writer Matthew Greenberg is penning the "Pet Sematary" script.
