Comic Con News Roundup: Peter Jackson May Helm New Horrror Project    Share

July 25, 2009 His major horror film was "Dead Alive." He eventually went on to super directorial stardom by helming the Oscar-winning "Lord of the Rings" trilogy. But Peter Jackson told an audience at Comic Con he may do a new horror project.

"It's stressful and hard ... there's a degree of freedom and risktaking you get to do when not dealing with these blockbuster-type budgets," he said. "Maybe I'll find myself a low-budget horror movie."

That's about all he hinted it while discussing the Guillermo del Toro-directed "The Hobbit" (which he's producing). That and other news tidbits emerged from Comic Con which is currently taking place in San Diego. The conference ends Sunday.

Also at the fan convention, horror fans are being encouraged to visit booth #4319 (MGM) and booth #3528 (Fox/MGM) and chastise the two companies for not releasing a treasure trove of early horror classics that deserve DVD releases, among them "Blood on Satan's Claw" and "Blood and Black Lace." The companies suspended their "Midnite Movies" series on DVD and the world of horror on disc has never been the same. ...

Meanwhile, the poster for "Johan Hex" emerged and can be found here. ...

While a trailer for "Sav VI" was unveiled, and the film's writers promised some "resolution" in the film, Variety also reported that "Saw VII" is already in the works: "David Hackl -- production designer of the second, third and fourth films and helmer of "Saw V" -- has been tapped to direct." ...

Megan Fox showed up to promote "Jennifer's Body" ...

and she gave this interview about "Jennifer's Body" ...

The producers of "Resident Evil" unveiled this trailer for their upcoming film "Pandorum."

High-res artwork was unveiled for the upcoming apocalyptic thriller "Legion," about human beings doing battle against angels sent by God to destroy the human race. Dennis Quaid, Tyrese Gibson, Charles Dutton and Doug Jones star in the film directed by Scott Stewart.

Finally, the "A Nightmare on Elm Street" remake received its own panel -- and the trailer was previewed, although we haven't run across it online yet. The new poster was also unveiled, and a new official site was launched for fans that like their horror remade.

The conference still has a day left, so we'll see what else emerges.
