'Twilight' Success May Mean New 'Buffy' Movie    Share

November 30, 2008 A script by Joss Whedon has apparently already been completed for a "Buffy The Vampire Slayer" movie, presumably to star Sarah Michelle Gellar. The film likely never would have been made -- but with "Twilight" raking in kazillions at the box office, studio chiefs are likely to greenlight it.

Reports the Herald-Sun Newspaper in Australia:

The monster success of girly vampire pic Twilight at the US Box office last weekend could kick open the door for a big-screen return of Joss Whedon’s much-loved Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Rumours are circulating in Hollywood that Whedon has a feature-film script based on his hit TV series ready to roll as soon as a studio is prepared to commit. The Buffy concept was first unveiled as a movie in 1992 with long-forgotten Kristy Swanson in the title role.

Before it became a hit TV series, "Buffy" was the subject of a theatrical movie in 1992. The show easily outshone the movie.
